WebThe Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS bundles its expertise into three research programs in order to address these complex challenges. Within these programs, the institute develops innovative solutions that offer significant value-add to society through extensive testing and analyses. Webprogramme for IKS, should ideally be carried out by encouraging the participation of communities in which it originates (NRF 2002). The programme for conducting research on IKS in South Africa, that would receive priority funding by the NRF, comprises six broad research focus areas, which are outlined as follows:
