Web17. Fogo (1952-2004) – Opened in September 1952, this was the second cottage hospital built by the provincial government. It was also the last of the cottage hospitals to be closed (excepting Brookfield and Springdale, both still in operation), when it was replaced by the Fogo Island Health Care Centre in 2004. WebFitzroy House is one of the oldest homesteads remaining on Great Barrier Island, and sits with the Glenfern Sanctuary Regional Park. Built in 1901, the house features the beautiful decorative detailing by craftsman builders from long ago. The self-contained five bedroom house can accommodate up to 10 people.
